Someone who knows something or anything about hockey - please help?

i am from michigan - i got tickets for a red wings game for my boyfriend for valentines day. our seats are in section 121 row 18 - which i just realized are BEHIND the vistors bench ? is this bad or good? as a hockey fan would you prefer to be on the other side facing the players? or is behind the bench okay too ? i cant ask him what he thinks because its a suprise… I paid a lot of money for these tickets and cant refund them.
