The West Wing (Season 4) DVD Review
Thursday, September 17th, 2009The recipient of widespread critical acclaim for its somewhat accurate portrayal of White House working conditions, The West Wing premiered in Fall 1999 to much fanfare and media attention.
Seasoned acting veteran Martin Sheen plays the lead role of President Bartlett to such perfection that it’s reported that some believe he’s the actual president. Sheen’s performance is indicative of the superb casting job pulled off by The West Wing creators. Filling with regular doses of action, suspense, and drama, The West Wing is one of the best drama series on TV…
The West Wing (Season 4) DVD offers a number of dramatic episodes including the season premiere “20 Hours in America: Part 1″ in which a number of events take place - Toby, Josh, and Donna get left behind on a campaign stop in Indiana (spending the rest of their day trying to get back to Washington), Bartlet searches for Mrs. Landingham’s replacement, and the Dow Jones index plummets. Meanwhile, an opposition campaign stirs up the media when Bartlet’s wife claims she’s “just a wife and mother”… Other notable episodes from Season 4 include “Election Night” in which the staffers eagerly await the results of the presidential contest (each in his own unique way), and “The Long Goodbye” in which C.J. returns to her hometown of Dayton where she attends her high school reunion and struggles with the horrid effects of her father’s Alzheimer’s disease…

What Is A Red Termite
Wednesday, September 9th, 2009The term red termite comes from the alates who have wings and fly around during the springtime looking for new nesting grounds to mate and lay their eggs. People often confuse the red termite with the flying ants. Although termites live in colonies as do ants, which will be the only similarity. Ants are destructive, but termites are devastating. Some interesting things about the red termite, it is just another destructive and destroying regular old termite.
Termites are sometimes called white ants although they belong to a group that the cockroach belongs to and the ant belongs to the group with wasp and bees. There are three groups of termites with many different species in each group, but there are not a species called the red termite. The term comes from the biological cycle of the termites.
The red termite as people say, help with our ecosystem. They feed on dead wood, plant debris, tree stumps and other matter in the wilderness that needs recycling into humus. This helps to fertilize the ground soil. Everywhere a colony exists, the soil will be well fertilized. This accounts for why farmers will plant there crops close to underground colonies.
Termites attract to cellulose that we find in wood. This accounts for the many buildings infested with termites, which go undetected for years. Termites have the uncanny nature of hiding themselves and can go undetected for years destroying complete building s and homes. Whether you have a new building or an older building, termites do not discriminate. These devastating insects devour up to fifteen pounds of wood a week and if left undetected will destroy a building in no time.
Another interesting thing about the red termite is they will take plaster, plastic and paper to the nest for construction. They also feed on materials that contain cellulose, which is paper, carpets, cloths and other things that contain the cellulose. Because nothing you own is safe from the termites, this accounts for the billions of dollars spent yearly to replace termite damage.
On one acre of land, you can find up to fifteen colonies, which broken down comes to four or five colonies around your home alone. If you have some knowledge about red termites, you can try to protect your home by treating the inside and the outside of your home to prevent infestation. You need to create a barrier outside around the foundation of your home to block the termites from gaining access to your home. You can do this process if you use the right pesticides and follow the guidelines you can find on preventing termites.
American termites exist everywhere, but with proper knowledge about the pest and what they look like and what they can do, people can protect themselves from an infestation before they damage your building and belonging. It comes in handy to know the winged typed and the non-winged types of termites. If you do have an American termite, you will want to contact an exterminator promptly before they do so much damage that you will need structure work as well as replacement of your belongings.
