Why are the Red Wings such a good regular season team, but bad in the playoffs?

the detroit red wings always do amazing in the regular season usually racking up 105+ points and usually finish 1st in the NHL, but they always seem to lose in the 1st round of the playoffs. does anyone know why this is and will it happen again this year?
